Because we’ve all had those days where nothing seems to go right. Or maybe you just feel down for a particular reason. Life can be hard sometimes, and it’s not always easy to pick yourself back up when you’ve been in a low mood. It’s okay to feel sad sometimes, but it’s important to remember that you don’t have to be sad forever.
Not too long ago I was feeling pretty down and I was really in a low mood about something specific happed in my life. Usually taking a couple of days to relax and evaluate my feelings can help to pull myself out of that funk. Sometimes I just need to spend time with my friends, do sports like Windsurfing or to take care of myself. But every person is different. The important thing is to find what works for you and don’t be ashamed about the things that make you happy. Even if they are banal or superficial things. In my opinion sometimes we just need to keep it simple or even banal. Nowadays we have too much to struggle with difficult things. So from time to time let’s keep it simple!
Treat yourself with things that you love. Some of those things might not seem like any one else’s cup of tea. I love, for example, watching Netflix-Series, reading books, organizing my books in alphabetical order, crocheting a woolen blanket or writing. What also helps for me is, going to my favorite hairdresser, which some people thing that’s a bit superficial and selfish. But I don’t care. It’s more important that I know that those things can turn me back to my happy me, when things get rough.
Here are some pics of the last visit at my hairdresser when I was in a low mood. Anyone who knows me can recognize it in my face.
I was sad and I really needed to free my mind of those damn negative thoughts. That’s why I have to do something and to spend time with other people. Sometimes all you need is a person who only listen to you and helps you get some stuff off your chest. So I decided to visit my hairdresser. And luckily some days later Tom had an appointment for me.
It was so nice to have a lovely chat that I could thinking about something different and also having that feeling that someone treated me well.
He took time for me to find out which hairstyle I like and he dyed my hair to a marvelous, summery color with magnificent highlights. Then he cut my hair to wonderfully falling hair strands, which gives my hair more volume at the right place.
After a while other thoughts came to my mind and I could relax a bit, so my mind has lightened up a bit and I was even able to laugh.
We put a lot pressure on ourselves. While we often pursuit for greater things, sometimes we need to sit back, reflect, and recognize all the good things we have going on right now. So when you’re feeling down, try to think about the things in life you’re grateful for. Focus on what you have … not what you don’t. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself. Be content with who you are right now at this moment. And remember, happiness is a choice.
Well, just do something, what helps you to pick yourself back up. I know sometimes it isn’t so easy. That’s why I came up with that idea to go to your favorite hairdresser. This is what you can do easily when you’re not feeling your best to get that smile back on your face. As you can see on my last pic.
I don’t want to say that everybody has to go to the hairdresser. Just find and do what makes you happy.
There is no right or wrong. Anything goes as long as it will help you to get rid of you low mood blues. 😉
