Based of todays outfit, I would like to show you, how to make a garment flattering, although it isn’t advantageous for your body shape.
The culotte is wonderfully suitable for every woman, who has an A- H- or X- Body Shape. But at the same time they are quite unsuitable for V- and O- body shapes.
For me, as an V-woman, these pants isn’t so easy to wear, therefore I have never dared to add these pants into my wardrobe. Further I have relatively short legs, which additionally ensures complications. But fortunately there are some tricks to find the adequate form and the right way to combine that suddenly suites you.
For example, as a V-woman I can compensate my broad shoulders with a more longer cut. The culotte in A-form fits me quite well. Important is, that I emphasize my hips. Equally to stay from the hips downwards as narrow as possible. Normally I have not the best prerequisites for a wide, calf-length culotte, but I have followed the most important rules, and now, I can wear these pants, too. However, there are only two alternatives to wear a culotte, which you can try as a V-woman with short legs: the really short, slightly flared culotte, which is almost a Bermuda and the ankle culotte, which looks like a maxi-skirt. Both combined with a long top, which marks the hip.
Culottes are very variable nowadays. They can be used for sporty, casual, classic, elegant, purist, feminine or androgyne outfits and even for styling in ethno-chic. Just as versatile, they can also be combined: with a t-shirt, blouse, sweater, sweatshirt or peplum top, with blazer, short jacket, vest or blouson, with knee-high boots, ankle boots, pumps or flat laced shoes. The combination possibilities are almost limitless.
The photos of my outfit show quite well that the culotte can be a possibility for many women. The decisive factor here is, whether you will find a cut that is favorable and flattering to your body shape and with certain combos of tops and shoes to stick to the rules.
I combined the knitted culotte with a cream-colored woolen sweater in the Norwegian style, Which emphasize my hips optimally. Under the sweater I wore a long sleeve shirt in antique pink. In order to elongate my legs, I put on a pair of black fishnet stockings and completed the edgy style with my classic Vans. Finally to round off the overall look, I chose a large bordeaux colored shopper bag.
(At the end of the post I prepared for you the shopping-links of each garment.)
After my positive experience with this almost ankle-length and quite straight shaped culotte, which surprisingly varied and easy to combine, I will definitely try the spring / summer variants soon.
Now it’s your turn…! Will you give the culotte a chance at the next shopping trip? I’m looking forward to hear a few feedbacks of you.
